Transition strips are pieces of wood, vinyl or metal that you place between flooring materials for a clean and presentable appearance. Floor transitions can be between rooms, in doorways, near a fireplace or just about anywhere two separate flooring materials meet up. When securing a cork T-molding transition strip, you will use an adhesive. You'll place the adhesive on only one flange of the transition piece before securing, which allows for expansion of the cork flooring due to moisture. Determine how long the transition strip needs to be using a tape measure. Transfer this measurement to the finished face of the transition material. Cut the strip to length by sawing across the line that you placed across the face of the transition material.
